Step 3: Build a Communication Strategy

Communication is a cornerstone of a great team. Clear and consistent communication about the “why, when, how, and who” behind what is happening is fundamental to success. Make sure to clearly communicate the strategic plan and the ongoing story.

OBJECTIVES AND COLLABORATION:

OBJECTIVE 1: Choose How You Will Communicate

Consider how team members prefer to receive their communication. In today’s fast-paced world, people send and receive information in a variety of ways.

Our church took a survey to determine which top 2 platforms team members preferred. Possible communication channels include text, email, team blog, Google products, social media such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Together decide on one primary channel of communication.

OBJECTIVE 2: When Communicating with your Team Choose the Message Carefully.

Keep the message short and to the point. People rarely take time to read a page of information, and they are inundated with hundreds of messages every day. Brief updates are informative and less intrusive. Communicate about your team’s progress, milestones met, when the next meetings are, the wins your team has had including testimonials.

OBJECTIVE 3: The Call...

Why are you communicating? Is your message a call to action, a call to celebrate, a call to rally together, a call to prayer? Communication should always have an urgency and reason.

Now that the team is all in the same boat and communication lines are clear, it’s time to launch into an amazing adventure of learning, discovery, and pursuing God’s best for your church and community! NEXT YOU WILL BUILD A PLAN TO ACCOMPLISH YOUR GOALS…
